When your friends move to Texas, you definitely go visit them!
Those sweet friends are Adam and Rebecca :) They were not only my lovely hosts for the weekend, but also my tour guides and chauffeurs. They took me all over the place - first showing me where Rebecca works and then where Adam goes to school. I really enjoyed getting to see the places where they spend most of their time!
Downtown Dallas
After showing me a little bit of the city by car, we walked around downtown. I’ll sound weird for saying this, but one of the highlights was seeing the street where JFK was shot. The history is sad yet fascinating to me, and it was interesting to talk with the conspiracy theorists who were there promoting their ideas of what they think really happened the day JFK was murdered.
Central Market
Just a photo inside the Central Market to remind me to petition the decision makers at Central Market to bring some to southern California! As Rebecca says, “It’s the Disneyland of grocery stores,” and I need one nearby. ;)
Dallas Arboretum
We spent most of our time at the arboretum exploring the art show they had inside. We had a blast walking around and talking with the artists about their creative process and work.
Buc-ee’s
Rebecca and Adam christened my visit to Texas by taking me to one of the largest gas stations in America known as Buc-ee’s. Although it wasn’t the biggest Buc-ee’s in Texas, this one had over 100 gas pumps! They quickly showed me around the convenience store, and of course, Rebecca made a pit stop at the baby clothes section!
A Texan Residence - a.k.a. the haseltine’s new home!
I couldn’t leave Texas without stopping by to say hello to Rebecca’s parents, who are pretty much like second parents to me. They had just moved to Texas and had bought a beautiful home perfect for hosting their future grandkids at. They were the best as they gave me a tour of their new home, cooked us dinner, and let us hang out in their jacuzzi. My favorite part though is when Mrs. Haseltine took the time to teach me and Rebecca how to make flower arrangements. I think it’s safe to say that we passed her crash course in flowers 101. ;)
To Adam & Rebecca:
Thank you both so much for a memorable weekend! From the walks downtown to the walks around your apartment complex, I enjoyed every moment of it. Miss you both here in California, but I’m so stoked for you two and the beautiful life you’re building together in Dallas!
